The organizing committee of the 40th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry (ICCC40) invites abstract submissions for any topic relevant to coordination chemistry.

The deadline for abstract submission is April 30th, 2012 (midnight local time). Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

To have an abstract accepted and included in the program and in the Book of Abstracts, the presenting author must have registered and paid the registration fee prior to July 8th, 2012. If your abstract is rejected, or not allocated to your preference, no refund will be offered should you wish to cancel your registration.

Abstracts may only be submitted on-line by connecting to the Web site http://www.iccc40.es. Abstracts sent by email or fax will not be processed by the Secretariat nor forwarded to the Scientific Committee for review. Only in case of genuine difficulties, please contact the Conference Secretariat at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Participants who wish to apply for a scientific contribution to the conference must submit an abstract for the consideration and approval of the Scientific Committee. Please indicate your preference for a lecture or a poster presentation. If you wish to apply for a lecture, please take into account that only a limited number of them will be selected by the Scientific Committee. Non-selected contributions will be automatically transferred to the category of poster communications.

The maximum number of attendees for the Congress is 1500. For this reason, registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis until the maximum number is reached. Only one poster per participant will be accepted, of course providing the poster meets format requirements and complies with the thematic of the congress. The congress is divided in 4 areas which are at the same time subdivided in 14 micro-symposiums. Abstracts will have to be submitted in all cases through the online form developed for this and participants will have to indicate to which micro-symposium they want it to be assigned. Participants will also have to indicate if they want to contribute by an Oral Presentation; if this option is selected, all abstracts with the selection will be distributed amongst the Scientific Committee of each micro-symposium who will be responsible for evaluation of the abstracts, the best 11 will be selected in the case of micro-symposiums that last all day and the best 6 will be chosen in the case of micro-symposiums which las only half day.

The conference programme will be structured around the following emerging areas of coordination chemistry:

A) MATERIALS
B) NANOSCIENCE
C) REACTIVITY AND CATALISYS
D) BIOINORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Each of these areas is divided in Microsymposia (MS) according to the following list:

A) MATERIALS
1.     MOLECULAR MAGNETISM
2.     MATERIALS FOR ENERGY
3.     METAL-ORGANIC FRAMEWORKS (MOFs)
4.     MULTIFUNCTIONAL MATERIALS

B) NANOSCIENCE
1.     SUPRAMOLECULAR  NANOSCIENCE & SENSING
2.     POLYOXOMETALATE NANOSCIENCE
3.     MOLECULAR ELECTRONICS & SURFACE SCIENCE

C) REACTIVITY AND CATALISYS
1.     CHEMISTRY & ENVIRONMENT
2.     HOMOGENEOUS CATALYTIC REACTIONS
3.     COORDINATION COMPOUNDS: SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE AND BONDING

D) BIOINORGANIC CHEMISTRY
1.     METALS IN MEDICINE
2.     METAL IONS AND NUCLEIC ACIDS
3.     METAL IONS AND PROTEINS
4.     BIOMATERIALS

Participants have to allocate their contributions to one of the different topics covered by the Microsymposia (MS). Contributions from other areas of coordination chemistry are also welcome.

The data presented in the abstract should ideally not have been published or presented at another major meeting. The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the contents of the abstract before submission. A registered participant can present only one communication, although can be co-author of several communications.
